I Blew Up My Database After I Knew What I Was Doing, and It Still Sucked

I blew up my production database, but because I had a backup ready, it wasn’t a total disaster. The lesson from last week: always back up before doing anything risky.

I nuked my entire production database. Fortunately, I had run a backup just a few days earlier, so I was able to restore it. Most of it anyway. Lost a week’s worth of data and probably a few years off my life from the stress, but it’s all back up and running. The lesson here: backups aren’t just a good idea... They’re essential. And it looks like my task manager and I are in a long-term relationship at this point.
